Agartala/ Sonamura, July 28: The people of Dhanpur in Sonamura sub-division are going through a panic due to the prevalence of dengue.

According to Simantika Das, medical officer in-charge (MOIC) of Dhanpur primary health centre, 62 people have been found dengue positive in the hospital over the past one week. She said, Dhanpur colony and Induria are the most affected places.

The medical officer said all the patients are undergoing treatment and there is nothing to worry. She confirmed that the samples of the people, who were suffering from fever, were sent to Agartala and after testing, the samples were found dengue positive. 

The local administration has already initiated an awareness drive in the dengue-affected areas.

According to local sources, the prevalence of dengue was not heard in Dhanpur area in recent years.
