Belonia July 11: Students of Matai HS School under Belonia sub-division in South Tripura staged road blockade on Monday demanding immediate recruitment of adequate teachers in their school.

The agitating students alleged, there are more than 200 students in the school but only 2 teachers. From Class 1-12 students of all classes are facing extreme hardships in learning process because of shortage of teachers. Students added they demand an immediate solution to the problem.

Hrishyamukh Mandal president Sushankar Bhowmik and District Education Officer along with police force reached the spot of agitation as huge number of vehicles got stuck on both sides of the road due to blockade.

After hours of conversation the students finally lifted the blockade receiving specific promises.

However, the students warned to go for a larger movement in the near days if their requests are not met within 15 days next.

Notably, heavy teachers’ crisis have been affecting the education system amid over 3,500 TET qualified teachers sit unemployed at homes.
