After voting, Tripura CM confident of BJP's victory with 'absolute majority'

Agartala, Feb 17: A day after polling, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday said this is for the first time that the state saw such a peaceful election.
Dr. Saha, who contested the polls from 8- Town Bordowali seat, said he is satisfied with the turnout of around 89 per cent.
The elections to sixty assembly constituencies in Tripura were held on Thursday. The results would be declared on March 2 next.
“The people came out in large numbers and exercised their democratic rights in a festive mood. The overall voting was peaceful except some stray incidents,” Dr. Saha said.
Speaking to the media at his official residence, the Chief Minister congratulated the people, Election Commission, political parties, election staff and security personnel for the violence-free election.
Earlier, there was a term of scientific rigging. But, this tie Tripura saw an election without any rigging, he added.
In reply to a media query, Dr. Saha said he is confident of BJP’s victory with ‘absolute majority’. Expressing hope, he said that the BJP would win seats much more than 2018.
Meanwhile, the Tripura Chief Minister offered prayers at Mata Tripurasundari Temple in Udaipur on Friday morning and also visited Jagannath temple in Agartala.
