Agartala, Apr 06: The new managing committee of Agartala Press Club was elected on Sunday.
Senior journalist Pranab Sarkar secured victory as new president while senior photojournalist Ramakanta Dey was re-elected as the Secretary.
Senior journalist Chitra Roy has won the election as vice president. Kamal Chowdhury and Abhishek Dey have been re-elected as Assistant Secretaries. Ranjan Roy retained the Treasurer post.
The elected executive members are- Mihir Lal Sarkar, Abhishek Debbarma, Biswajit Dey, Santosh Gope and Ranjit Debbarma.
Advocate Sandip Datta Chowdhury, Returning Officer to the Press Club Election, announced the results after the counting on Sunday evening.
The notable figures who faced defeat are- Jayanta Bhattacharjee (president candidate), Arun Nath (president candidate), Prabir Sil (vice president candidate), Sajjad Ali (vice president candidate), Biswendu Bhattacharjee (secretary candidate) and Sourajit Paul (Asst. Secretary candidate).
The election of the Agartala Press Club was held followed by annual general conference.
