Agartala, April 21: In a heartfelt tribute to two of its most esteemed members, the Agartala Press Club convened a condolence meeting at the club’s auditorium on Sunday. The gathering was marked by a deep sense of loss and reverence for the late Paritosh Biswas, Editor and proprietor of Tripura’s first Bengali daily ‘Jagaran’, and Kanad Modak, a dynamic journalist from ‘Dainik Sambad’. The event was attended by Agartala press club President, Jayanta Bhattacharjee, club secretary, Ramakanta Dey, prominent journalist, Shekhar Datta and Sanjib Datta Choudhury along with several others.
Paritosh Biswas, who was also one of the founder members of the Agatala press club, passed away on February 24, 2024, after a long battle with a critical kidney ailment. His death marks the end of an era for journalism in Tripura, as he was a mentor for many in the field.
The press club also paid respects to Kanad Modak, who passed away on April 3, 2024, after a brief illness. Despite his youth, Modak was known for his dynamism and dedication to journalism, making significant contributions to the media landscape.
During the meeting, speakers took turns to highlight the immense contributions of both journalists. They recalled their passion, integrity, and the unforgettable mark the two journalists left on journalism. The homage paid to these departed souls was not just a reflection of their professional achievements but also of the personal impact they had on their colleagues and the community.
