Agartala, Sep 12: The state committee of the All India Democratic Women Association (AIDWA) on Tuesday staged a protest against the BJP government at the Centre and state here at Agartala and alleged of rising crimes against women.
The protest, which was led by the state committee leader Rama Das, Mitali Bhattacharjee and others was carried out with a slogan – ‘BJP, RSS, Hatao Mahila Bachao, Desh Bachao’ in different parts of the capital town of Agartala.
AIDWA leader Rama Das accused the BJP government at the Centre and state and alleged that the government is turning a blind eye to the issues of rising rate of crime against women, rising unemployment rate and others. She said that the government failed to ensure safety and security for the women across the country, where the women were made victims in many instances.
She further alleged that the incidents of rape, physical assault and kidnapping has increased at an alarming rate in Tripura along with rest of the nation under the rule of BJP government. She also blamed the Modi-government at the Centre over the price rise of essential commodities.
On the other hand, the women leader Mitali Bhattacharjee in a separate protest movement here at Agartala castigated the government and recalled the Manipur violence, where two women were stripped naked. She called for intensification of the women's movement across the country against the BJP government and alleged that the situation turned worse across the country, where the women are being targeted. The government has also failed to fulfill the aspirations of women, she further alleged.
