Agartala Nov 30: All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), the women’s wing of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) in Tripura, expressed grave concerns over the rise of crimes against women in the state.
With several supporters, AIDWA organized a protest rally in the heart of capital city here on Wednesday to demand an end to the increasing crime against women across the state, including rape, gang-rape, post-rape murder, domestic violence and many more.
Talking to the media representatives, AIDWA state secretary Jharna Das Baidya accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government of turning a blind eye to the burning issue, alleging that the number of crimes against women has increased significantly after the Saffron Party came to power in 2018.
“Anarchy is prevailing in the state. Crime against women, minors has increased unprecedentedly. Dead-bodies are recovered every now and then. Even police have miserably failed to curb these issues”, she said.
Das Baidya further alleged that the criminals involved in heinous crimes are mostly from the ruling party and rest are sheltered by the ruling party leaders.
“We strongly condemn such incidents and demand strict action against criminals. If the government fails to stop such incidents, we will organize a massive protest in coming days across the state”, she added.
