AIKS state committee seeks Gov assistance for cyclone ‘Midhili’ farmers in Tripura

Agartalas, Nov 20: Expressing concern over the farmers distressed by the damage of their agricultural farming due to the recently held cyclone ‘Midhili’, the state committee of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) on Monday demanded immediate assistance from government for the affected farmers in the state.
A delegation of the AIKS state committee comprising of senior CPI-M leader Pabitra Kar met the director of the agriculture department here at Agartala Krishi Bhavan and sought intervention of the government for an immediate relief for the affected farmers.
According to Kar. agricultural farming land across the eight districts of the state were largely affected due to the cyclone Midhili, where the seasonal vegetable farming were damaged mainly, while the paddy cultivations were toppled to the ground.
Talking to the reporters over the outcome of their meeting with the agriculture director, he said, “We sought the intervention of the department to go for thorough survey of the affected farming lands across the state and provide financial assistance to the affected farmers from the Disaster Management fund at the earliest, so that the farmers can start their vegetable farming newly for this winter.”
