As part of country-wide 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has taken multiple initiatives to make the drive successful.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder has said, the Corporators already held discussions with clubs, social organisations and business establishments in their respective areas.
Installation of flags/ festoons to highlighting the glorious 75 years of Independence and the role of the freedom fighters is underway in various wards, he said.
Three islands near Secretariat, Swami Vivekananda statue near North Gate, Dimsagar, Kaman Chowmuhani, IGM hospital area, Hapania international fair ground and Battala crematorium among various important locations including Gandhighat and Elbert Ekka Park would be illuminated to mark Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, he said.
The Mayor appealed to the people residing under the AMC to hoist Tricolour at their homes with due respect to mark 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign from August 13 to 15 next.
On August 15, the AMC would organize a cultural programme where some of the freedom fighters and veteran citizens would be honoured, Majumder said.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha would hoist a high-mast National Flag installed by AMC at Secretariat premises on August 13, the Mayor said.
Besides, he said, the AMC is taking various initiatives to maintain cleanliness in the city and keep it free of traffic jam, pollution and use of plastic during Durga Puja festival. He said, some initiatives have also been taken for smooth conduct of idol immersion process at Dashamighat.
Speaking to the media, he said, the AMC has planned to give a new look to the city while efforts have already been made to fix the common problems and ensure basic amenities in the city.
