Boxanagar, Dec 26: In yet another major development, the police of Kalamcherra police station jointly with the TSR on Thursday destroyed at least 1 lakh Ganja plants after anti-narcotics drone camera tracking in two separate places of Manikyanagar and Beluarchar.
The anti-narcotics drone camera managed to track the Ganja cultivation covering the forest land of at least 30 acres and spread over 6 plots in both the places of Manikyanagar and Beluarchar. Following the tracking, police jointly with the TSR jawans destroyed at least 1 lakh Ganja plants. The drive was launched under the leadership of Officer In-Charge Nadu Gopal Deb.
He said that the cannabis plants were in a mature state, which could have been used to supply large quantities of the drug. But as a result of timely operations, it was possible to completely destroy this cultivation, he told reporters.
Police said that moving in line with the government’s determination in making drug-free Tripura, police is taking steps to stop cultivation of Ganja plants. The operation made on Thursday is one of the most successful operations, and such operations will continue in near future, police said.
