Arshiya shines in Aparna Memorial Chess

Agartala, Aug 17: Wonder girl Arshiya Das is playing well. In the seventh round of the season, Arshiya stopped Kumar Gaurav of Bihar and thus created sensation in the ongoing 2nd Year 'Aparna Dutta' Memorial International Rating Chess Competition organized by Matrix Chess Academy.
Arshiya (1496) stopped Kumar Gaurav (2090) with great skill in the seventh round of the tournament held in association with Manoranjan Dey trust.
From the very beginning Arshiya started to play intelligently with black pawn. Kumar tried to keep pressure but failed to keep Arshiya down. In the end the match ended in a draw. However, the under-14 chess player unexpectedly lost to Samukh Dhareria (1624) on Wednesday morning.
At the end of 8 rounds, Tripura's Arshiya has 5.5 points and among the Tripura chess players stayed at top with Biswajit Nag. If she win in the last two rounds, the chance of getting a place in the top 10 will remain in front of Arshiya.
