Tension prevails at Bishramganj in Sepahijala district of Tripura as a group of miscreants launched an attack during a party programme of Congress on Tuesday.

There was a meeting of Congress at Bishramganj where Congress leaders- Szarita Laitphlang, former MLA Ashis Kumar Saha and Ashok Debbarma were present.

A group of youths suddenly launched an attack with lathis in hand. Two vehicles of Congress leaders were vandalized.

There are allegations that the whole incident took place in presence of police, but there was no action.

Speaking to the media, Congress leader Szarita Laitphlang alleged that a group of around 20/22 people came out from the local BJP party office and vandalized the two vehicles.

This is very unfortunate that the Tripura government is failing to provide security to the people, she said, adding that the democracy is being murdered in the state.
