Agartala, July 01. As it is important to achieve SDGs, the economic development important concept to focus on that and the government trying continuously to concentrate on agricultural based development in compliance with necessity for development of the country as well as Indian states. The company like Bagma Agri Producer Company Limited (BAPCL) has started today in Gomati District of the state Tripura to sell milk based products including sweets and all produced by Gomati Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd.
In order to promote agricultural sectors in the country India, the Government of India has launched a new Central Sector Scheme titled "Formation and Promotion of 10,000 Farmer Produce Organizations (FPOs)" with a clear strategy and committed resources to form and promote 10,000 new FPOs in the country with budgetary provision of Rs 6865 crore.
The company BAPCL is a FPO guided by NABARD Tripura Regional Office and the FPO doing well in case of increasing farmers income as double with the help of suggestions getting from ICAR, ARDD, Agriculture Department and other organizations. The company BAPCL is now collecting milk from about 200 and more farmers every day in different areas under Gomati and Sepahijala District of Tripura to supply Gomati Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited for making milk based products.
The company BAPCL has also done marketing after value addition of milk from company located here at Indranagar of Agartala in Tripura. The company BAPCL has done good job in case of agricultural activities in view of doubling farmers’ income as double, said Sudip Majumder, Chairman of BAPCL.
In accordance with different report, the agriculture sector plays a very important role in both economic development and Nation building. India is globally in the forefront of development of agriculture. The goal is to achieve doubling of export by 2022. However, more than 86 per cent of farmers in the country are small and marginal.
Sudip Majumder said it also that the government is trying level best to facilitate farmers with access to improved technology, credit, better input and more markets to incentivize them to produce better quality commodity by dint of developing the concept of FPOs. For this, Aggregation of small, marginal and landless farmers into FPOs will help enhance economic strength & market linkages of farmers for enhancing their income by virtue of FPO formation with proper guidelines suggested by Government of India.
The FPO concept need to promote with an eye to increasing farmers income as double to improve the economic condition of farmers’ in the state Tripura but the support of government officials are more essential to success it, said Kiran Bhowmik, PhD Scholar of Agricultural Economics in Tripura University.
