Kanchanpur July 9: A 100-member delegation of Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bru Sangrama Imto arrived at Kanchanpur to go to Betlingchhip Hill for worshipping Lord Shiva. However, they had to abandon the plan after the local administration urged them not to go there as a group of people put up a road blockade to stop the visiting team to go Jampui hill.

After a meeting with the administration, the visiting team decided to stop their journey to Jampui. They vented anger at the prevailing situation and strongly condemned the road blockade.

VHP secretary of State unit Abhijit Datta Bhowmik and Babujoy Reang of Bru Sangrama Imto along with others held a press meeting.

They said, there was a Shiva linga at the Betlingchhip Hill long ago – we were going there to worship Lord Shiva there.

They continued and added, “However, we were told that a group of Mizo people had blocked the road. Expecting chaos and unrest, the administration urged us to abandon our plan to worship Lord Shiva there”.
