Biplab Deb inaugurates Pratyekray Poush Mela on Makar Sankranti

Churaibari, Jan 14: The 138th Pratyekray Poush Mela, one of the North Tripura’s largest cultural event, was inaugurated by MP and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday. The inauguration ceremony took place near the Boro Akrah, where the MP lit the ceremonial lamp and pulled the rath rope to kick off the five-day festival.

Prominent figures in attendance included Bagbassa MLA Jadab Lal Nath, Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati, Aparna Nath, Mela Committee Advisor, Kajal Das, Additional District Magistrate, L. Darlong and Mela Committee President, Gouramani Nama.

Started by Bishakha Dasi Vaishnavi as a one-day event, the festival has evolved into a grand five-day celebration. This year’s highlights include a flower exhibition, selfie points, cultural evenings, performances by renowned artists, government stalls, diverse shops, and amusement rides. In his address, MP Biplab Kumar Deb reflected on political topics and the significance of preserving cultural heritage.
