Agartala April 02: Throughout the year, the Communists are never seen raising voice for issues of public interests but only during the times of elections they are seen shouting slogans and hatching plans to destroy the peace and harmony of the state, said former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
The BJP candidate for West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency Biplab Kumar Deb launched a scathing attack over the opposition CPI-M and Congress calling it a ‘unholy alliance’ as he addressed a public gathering and joining program of the party organized under the initiative of BJP 6 Agartala Mandal on Tuesday.
Speaking from the dais at Noagaon Krishnagar HS School, Deb claimed that it is now under the BJP regime that the people of Tripura enjoy elections as a festival.
“Under their 25- year long tenure, the CPI-M unleashed a situation of terror and violence in the state. Burning down and vandalizing houses of opposition party supporters and workers, restricting the opposition from conducting meetings and rallies during the times of elections by creating several types of disturbances and many more. The CPI-M always tried to create a fear among the common people especially during the times of elections”, said Deb.
“What is most surprising is that the Congress which was most affected because of the atrocities of the CPI-M are now working as allies”, he added.
Biplab Kumar Deb further alleged that thousands of Congress workers were mercilessly killed under the CPI-M rule.
Deb further took a dig at Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman for ‘freely aligning with the Communists’.
“The MLA of 6-Agartala is a Ph.D. holder in terms of violence and hooliganism and is famous for playing dirty politics. He has always worked in the interests of the Communists. The proof of this is how he walks rallies and conducts meetings with Jiten Choudhury hand in hand”, he said.
Later, in a joining program, Biplab Kumar Deb welcomed 450 voters from 111 families to the saffron camp by handing over party flags.
Earlier in the day, a rally was also held in the 6 Agartala Constituency area in support of Biplab Kumar Deb.
Party karyakartas led by state BJP general secretary Papiya Dutta urged the common people to vote for the former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
