Agartala Jan 31: With barely less than two weeks left for Tripura assembly elections, candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party have rolled up their sleeves and redoubled efforts in reaching out to the common people across the state.
The 2023 Tripura polls are crucial for BJP as it has been challenged by alliance between Left Front and Congress, new entrant Trinamool Congress and Regional Party TIPRA Motha which has also put up candidates in at least 40 assembly constituencies.
Tripura chief minister DR Manik Saha, BJP State president Rajib Bhattacharjee, party’s General Secretary Papiya Dutta among others were seen campaigning door-to-door on Tuesday backed by large number of party karyakartas and supporters in assigned assembly constituencies to meet the voters personally.
Dr Manik Saha who is contesting from 8-Town Bordowali assembly constituency like other days expressed huge confidence in winning the seat with huge margin of votes.
Talking to the reporters he said, “People have full faith on BJP and there will be a Tsunami of votes for the party in the ensuing polls”.
He added, all the star campaigners of Bharatiya Janata Party including JP Nadda, Amit Shah and others will reach the state to press for the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’.
BJP state president Rajib Bhattacherjee also met voters in his assembly constituency 9-Banamalipur on Tuesday.
He said, “People of Tripura have vowed to vote BJP back to power for yet another term as they are well aware of the fact that it is only the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP government that can bring welfare and prosperity to Tripura and its people”.
Talking about the issue where CPIM has put candidates in all 60 assembly constituencies despite seat sharing with Congress, Bhattacharjee said, “Both CPIM and Congress are well trained in drama and people will decide their fate”.
Meanwhile, BJP candidate for 6-Agartala Assembly constituency Papiya Dutta on Tuesday started door-to-door campaign after offering prayers at Indranagar Kali Temple.
Slamming her contender Sudip Roy Barman, Congress candidate for 6-Agartala constituency Papiya Dutta said, “The people of 6-Agartala assembly constituency have been deprived for long time”.
She added, “Doing a party is completely one’s personal choice but being an elected MLA from the area, Barman babu has done nothing for the people here. There is a huge gap between the people and the MLA”.
Alleging that the opposition does ‘division politics’ Papiya Dutta said, “If voted to power will work for the development of every individual irrespective of caste creed and religion”.
All the BJP candidates expressed confidence of winning the polls. Said, “Having secured historic electoral victory in 2018 against the 25 years of the CPI(M) rule, BJP is all set to win Tripura again”.
