BJP reduced the Panchayat Polls into a farce; there will be no development at the village level: Jiten

Agartala Aug 30: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since 2018 has been trying to establish a single-party rule in Tripura and for this, all the elections after 2028 were turned into a farce, alleged CPI-M state secretary and MLA Jiten Choudhury.
The CPI-M MLA made the statement on Friday as he addressed a blood donation camp organized at the CPI-M Jogendranagar party office.
The camp aimed to ensure adequate blood in the blood bank reserves and promote the importance of blood donation among the common masses.
A good number of people voluntarily came forward in blood donation on this day.
Talking about the shortage of blood that the state faces during election period following the political violence and incidents of attacks, Jiten Choudhury said, “The recent Panchayat elections in the state is an example of how the ruling BJP is murdering democracy. There were reports of attack, rigging from various polling stations. Moreover, the opposition were not allowed to field candidates in most of the seats. With the help of the state machinery, forcefully changed the people’s mandate in some places — a very serious allegation that raises significant concerns about the fairness of the election results”.
Chowdhury claimed that even as the ruling party representatives took oath, reports of infightings and bickering within the party have surfaced in many places.
“Voters wanted to give space to the opposition for the sake of democracy. This is a forceful result and not the mandate of people. In the next 1 year it will be more open in front of the common people when no development will be seen in the villages”, alleged Choudhury.
