Agartala Feb 03: It is under Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP government where women have been given utmost importance through various women- centric schemes that focused on their development and empowerment, said chief minister Dr Manik Saha.
Pradesh BJPs Sadar Committee on Saturday held a Shakti Vandan workshop at the party’s Pradesh headquarters to formulate a strategy to reach out to NGOs and self-help groups ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Chief minister Dr Manik Saha chaired the workshop while praising the significant role of women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the state and said that they will play a key role in creating awareness about government-sponsored schemes to ensure that people avail themselves of various benefits.
Speaking to the reporters, the chief minister said, ““The program has been launched by the BJP. We are well aware that our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and BJP National President, JP Nadda, have always advocated for women's empowerment. Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are tirelessly working not only in Tripura but across the country. In Tripura, through the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), we have established numerous groups as well. The SHGs in our state are making significant contributions, and the women associated with them are benefiting from various government schemes,” he said.
Dr. Saha mentioned that as the Prime Minister has initiated the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra to provide all kinds of schemes and assistance to those who haven't received it, the women SHGs will help in creating awareness about this so that people get all kinds of benefits.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, state BJP vice- president Papia Datta among others remained present at the program.
