Agartala Jan 08: Majestic landscape across the world has long beckoned adventurous souls, most of whom long for opportunities to scale challenging peaks, explore remote valleys and forge a deep connection with the great outdoors.
Aritra Roy, a passionate mountaineer from Tripura, is determined to reach the summit of Mount Everest, the world's highest peak.
Speaking to Tripura Times, Aritra detailed how his love for mountaineering began in childhood and has since grown into a remarkable pursuit of adventure and achievement.
With an impressive history of mountaineering accomplishments, Aritra has completed basic and advanced courses on mountaineering with an 'A' grade from the prestigious Himalayan Institute of Mountaineering in Darjeeling.
His notable triumphs include: Mount Kilimanjaro: On January 22, 2023, Aritra reached the 5895-meter peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.
Mount Elbrus: On September 22, 2023, he conquered the 5642-meter peak of Mount Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe.
These achievements represent two of the seven summits he aims to climb as part of his dream to conquer the highest peaks of all seven continents.
Aritra's current ambition is to scale the heights of Mount Everest, standing at a formidable 8,848 meters (29,029 feet), and achieve glory for both India and Tripura. His ultimate goal is to join the ranks of those who have conquered the seven summits.
Son of late Sanjoy Roy, a renowned football coach of Tripura, Aritra has meticulously planned his expedition to Mount Everest.
His extensive preparations include logistical planning, physical training, and securing the necessary equipment. However, the journey to Everest is both arduous and expensive. Aritra estimates that he will need at least Rs 30 lakh to fund his expedition.

Beyond mountaineering, Aritra is also an accomplished cyclist. He has participated in several marathons and international cycling competitions in Bangladesh, showcasing his versatility and dedication to sports.
Professionally, Aritra is an IT professional, balancing his career with his adventurous pursuits.
