Bru refugees in Khassnampara demand urgent action on essential services

Kanchanpur, Aug 25: Despite the government's efforts to provide essential services, the Bru refugee families who fled Mizoram in 1997 and were relocated from areas like Naisingpara and Asapara to Khassnampara in the Dasda RD Block have raised concerns about inadequate facilities.
Currently, 1,056 families live in the Khassnampara settlement. Although four Anganwadi centres have been established, the locals have alleged that children are not receiving proper mid-day meals and a lack of local schools forces older students to travel far for education.
Besides, the residents have reported issues such as insufficient electricity supply, poor road conditions and malfunctioning water supply systems under the Prime Minister's Jal Jeevan Mission. Many families have also experienced delays in receiving their monthly financial assistance and have not benefited from the Ujjwala scheme.
The residents have urged Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to address these concerns urgently.
