BSF seize suspected brown sugar worth Rs. 2,42,00,000 from Silchar-Agartala train

Agartala, July 07: In yet another anti-narcotics drive, the Border Security Forces of Tripura unit seized 484 grams of suspected brown sugar worth Rs. 2,42,00,000 from Silchar-Agartala train on Wednesday.
The BSF in its press communique on Thursday stated that based on the specific input of the Intelligence officer, Panisagar, a Special Operation was launched with a Team of 64 Bn BSF and RPF Dharmanagar at Kumarghat rail station in the coach of a train which was heading towards Agartala from Silchar.
During the search, the searching party recovered a green colour plastic bag containing ten packs of shop cases from the overhead shelf of seat no. 41 of the train coach and seized approximately 484 gms of suspected brown sugar, the press communique added.
It further stated that the plastic bag was left abandoned by the suspect who managed to slip away taking advantage of the other passengers. The estimated value of seized Brown Sugar is approximately Rs. 2,42,00,000 in the international market.
In a separate operation, the BSF on Wednesday last seized 15.5 Kgs of Ganja, 362 bottles of Phensedyl/Eskuf Syrup, and other contraband items worth Rs. 2,56,645.
