The highest demand for candles comes during the time of Diwali or Kali Puja, said Kajol Das, an educated youth from Totabari area of East Kalyanpur Gram Panchayat under Kalyanpur R D Block.
Kajol did not lose heart after failing to get a job after completing his education. Relying on his willpower, Kajol started a new journey, and chose candles as the path on this journey. Eight years ago, Kajol started manufacturing Lotus brand candles under the name Das Enterprises. And today at least 20 men and women of the locality have joined to make this initiative successful.
This energetic young man of Kalyanpur gives a strong message to the society by becoming self-reliant and also by employing others.
Talking about the hurdles Kajol said, “Currently, the demand for candles is a bit less due to the popularity of various electric lights and lamps”.
However, Das said that at present there is a special demand for Lotus brand candles manufactured by the enterprise in every subdivision of Tripura state.
Most of the workers are not professionally trained but are working hard to thrive towards attaining excellence in their work.
