Agartala Jan 07: Seeking redressal of the demands, gardeners-caretakers working at various government residential complexes, gheraoed Tourism and Transport Minister Pranajit Singha Roy’s official residence here on Saturday.

Pressing for their due right to have a dignified source of livelihood, the agitating workers said, “With the meagre salary we aren’t able to meet the basic necessities of our families”.

“For long years we have been demanding regularization and hiked financial benefits as a part of our job security but nothing has been done so far to solve our issues”, they added.

Finding no other way even after working hard in extreme weather conditions, we came to meet the minister with our demands, they said.

Meanwhile, minister Pranajit Singha Roy assured to address the issues of the gardeners cum caretakers.

Expressing hope, one of the workers said, “The minister said that he has already forwarded the file for approval and decision will be announced after next Cabinet meeting”.

The protesting caretakers-gardeners demanded regularization of their service and hike in monthly salary.
