Central Govt. delegation visits flood-affected areas in Khowai Dist

Agartala Aug 30: A delegation from the central government visited several flood-affected areas in Khowai district on Friday morning.
The delegation, which included Ramesh Kumar, PK Meena, and Shashank Bhushan, along with Khowai District Magistrate Chandni Chandran and other officials, assessed the damage caused by recent floods.
The team visited the Khowai Jamira region, Chebri region, areas around the Khowai river, Ghilatali Ghat, West Durgapur and other affected locations.
In a social media post, the Khowai district administration highlighted the visit, noting that the first stop was Jamira para in Paschim Sonatala GP of Khowai Subdivision. Here, over 30 hectares of agriculture, including transplanted paddy and standing horticulture crops, were reported damaged.
Speaking to the reporters one of the members of the central government’s delegation said, “The visit is aimed to evaluate the extent of the damage and plan necessary relief measures for the affected communities”.
“Yesterday, we visited Gomati district to assess the ground situation and today we are visiting the Khowai district. The situation is extremely saddening, losses are heavy because of the flood. We will present a detailed report to the state and central governments after completion of our ground visits”, he said.
