Agartala, Jan 24: The state committee of the central trade union has hot the streets of the capital town of Agartala on Friday and opposed the bill that allows women to work in nightshift.
CITU leader and former transport minister Manik Dey, who led the rally of the CITU, said that at a time when the Central government had introduced a bill so as to allow women to work in the nightshifts, the state government in Tripura has got a similar bill passed by the state legislative assembly recently.
Dey opposed the bill and argued that the government had introduced the bill without ensuring safety and security for the women.
“At a time when the women in the country including the state of Tripura are being deprived at large and the government failed to ensure safety and security for them, the bill allowing the women work in the nightshift poses another worry for the women,” Dey argued further.
The CITU however demanded the government to avoid execution of the bill in the state.
