Agartala, May 15: Tripura Police on Tuesday arrested another person in connection with the sensational college girl gang-rape incident.

As of now, four persons were arrested in this case. Among them, Jayanta Rout was nabbed on Tuesday, police confirmed.

The three other accused persons- Gautam Sharma, Sudip Chetri and Lakhan Paul, who were arrested within 48 hours of the incident, were put behind the bars. However, another rape accused- Prasenjit Paul is still absconding.

The college girl was hospitalized after being gang-raped in a vehicle on May 9 last. She was found unconscious on the bypass road. Based on a complaint lodged at Amtali police station, police arrested the four culprits so far and seized the vehicle used in the crime.

Meanwhile, Amtali police also recovered a large amount of cash from the house of one of the accused persons.

An official statement said, Tripura Police is committed towards zero tolerance against crime against women.
