Agartala, Dec 22: Persisting with its demand for an apology and resignation from Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his remarks in Rajya Sabha on Dr B R Ambedkar, the Tripura Congress Committee on Sunday announced to go for ‘Ambedkar Samman March’ on December 24 next in all the district headquarters of the state.

Addressing a press conference here in the party office, the Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman said, “This march is to oppose and agitate Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remark on Ambedkar in the parliament.” He said that the congress will pay floral tribute to the statues of Ambedkar in all the districts of the state as part of the ‘Ambedkar Samman March’ on December 24 next.

Barman demanded sacking of Union Home Minister Amit Shah from the union cabinet and sought apology from Amit Shah over his remark. He said that the Congress will continue its movement until Amit Shah resigns and seek apology from the citizens of this country.

“With his remark – ‘Abhi ek fashion ho gaya hai — Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar… Itna naam agar bhagwan ka lete toh saat janmon tak swarg mil jata’, Amit Shah had insulted Ambedkar and millions of Indians who hold faith in the Constitution.,” Barman said, alleging thatg the RSS-backed BJP has adopted a mindset to disrespect the constitution.
