Agartala, Feb 17: The Congress party National Media Coordinator of North East Region Mathew Antony landed here at Agartala on Saturday and read out his party’s ‘Black Paper’ released against the Modi government’s ‘failure’ in 10 years.
Addressing a press conference here at Agartala Congress Bhavan, Mathew Antony claimed that Congress is the only party in this country, which raised its voice against the ‘injustice’ made by the Modi government to the people of this nation in 10 years.
“The ten years of injustice made by the Modi government devastated the country's economy, aggravated unemployment, destroyed the country's agricultural sector, abetted crimes against women and committed grave injustices against minorities in the country,” he told reporters.
The Congress leader said the central government failed to control the inflation, claiming that the Centre did not curb the prices of essential commodities by using the essential commodities Act. He alleged that the 10 years of the Modi government failed to ensure basic needs for the people of this nation.
“The government even failed the famers who protested against "three back laws" for almost a year before it was rolled back,” he said, adding that the black paper of the congress party has highlighted the highest unemployment rate in 45 years, prices of essential commodities being at an all-time high, and failure to increase MSP for farmers despite a promise to double their income.
On the other hand, the party’s state president Ashish Kumar Saha castigated the BJP government in Tripura and said that the government in Tripura has devastated development in the state, moving in line with the Centre. “People of this state are frustrated with the BJP government in Tripura,” he claimed.
He said, “In addition to the growing unemployment rate and corruption in all sectors of the government, the law and order situation has deteriorated in Tripura, where women are being targeted.”
Later, he said that the Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi will soon visit the state before the election to address the people if this state.
