Congress protests on 9-point demands in Khowai

Khowai Oct 22: Khowai Block Congress on Saturday staged 4-hrs mass sit-in protest pressing for 9-point demands related to public interest.
The mass sit-in protest demonstration started from 11 am on Saturday morning in front of the Punjab National Bank in Khowai Subhash Park area.
Pradesh Congress Committee Member Paritosh Das, Teliamura District Congress President Bikram Kishore Sinha, Khowai Block Congress Committee President Jatindra Gope, former district president were present at the agitation.
Addressing at the spot of agitation, District Congress President Bikram Kishore Sinha took a jibe over the ruling BJP government.
He said, under the ruling party democracy has perished in the state, law and order has collapsed. Attempts are made to harass the leaders members and supporters of the opposition political parties. Their houses are ransacked and individuals are attacked by ruling party backed miscreants.
He further said, commodity prices have increased to a great extent and the government is in slumber.
Besides, corruption has reached to its peak under BJP governance, alleged Bikram Kishore Sinha.
The major demands for the day’s protest were increase in wages of workers under REGA, taking timely steps to solve the problem of unemployment, timely payment of social allowances, road reform in Khowai sub-division area, regularization of drinking water and electricity supply, demand for setting up a border haat in Khowai district and others.
