Congress to organize 24-hr strike in 3 districts on July 21

Kailasahar, July 13: Kailasahar, Dharmanagar and Ambassa District Congress called for a 24-hr-bandh on July 21 on the basis of 11 charter point demands including attack on Congress president and other leaders. On Wednesday, July 13, an organizational meeting was held in the hall room of Pradesh Congress President Birajit Sinha in Kailasahar with the district presidents of the three districts, block presidents of the three districts and the leaders and workers of the 17 assembly constituencies. After the organizational meeting, Birajit Sinha himself announced the bandh amid a press conference. Pradesh Congress president Birjit Sinha said the civil disobedience movement would be carried out on the day of the shutdown. The demands further include repeal of four-year Agneepath Scheme, punishment of the perpetrators by investigating the attacks on various Congress leaders, including the Pradesh congress president, to introduce Kailasahar and Kamalpur airports. Establishment of Kamalpur, Khowai, Agartala alternative railways through Kailashahar, establishment of blocks for the convenience of rural people in Fatikroy assembly constituency setting up of English medium colleges in each district and many more. He added on the day of shutdown, about 10,000 people from 17 assembly constituencies will join the movement. It has also been informed that the campaign in support of the closure of the three districts will start from July 14 in different areas of the three districts.
Apart from TPCC president Birajit Sinha, Congress leaders Chayan Bhattacharya, Mohammad Badruzzaman and many others were also present at the press conference.
