Agartala Jan 16: Tripura Pradesh Congress Youth Wings including NSUI on Monday held roaring protests against the attack on Congress vehicles and workers in Mohanpur.
Monday morning the Congress activists in large numbers gheraoed education minister Ratan Lal Nath’s residence holding him responsible behind the attack that took place on Sunday last in Mohanpur assembly constituency that belongs to the Law and Education minister of Tripura.
Talking to the reporters as the Congress activists laid siege in front of Ratan Lal Nath’s residence State Youth Congress president Rakhu Das said, “Sunday afternoon, 4 campaign vehicles of the Congress party were vandalized in the area adjacent to Mohanpur Fire Station in broad daylight. Even generators were looted by the miscreants”.
“Moreover, various vehicles that were entering Agartala were detained and vandalized in Churaibari when PCC president Brijit Sinha rushed to the spot and rescued the Congress activists”, he added.
Rakhu Das further said, “Without having the back of the minister who belongs from Mohanpur assembly constituency these attacks on campaign vehicles were not possible in broad daylight”.
The Congress demanded Ratan Lal Nath to step down from his post of Law minister claiming that ‘Ratan Lal Nath was never capable to maintain law and order’.
The agitators further added, “Congress can’t be stopped by such attacks and Minister Ratan Lal Nath will be shown his position in the upcoming elections”.
A Hasan Ahmed Khan, National Secretary General Youth Congress, state Youth Congress president Rakhu Das, NSUI State president Samrat Roy and others led the day's protest.
Later, the Congress activists were detained by Police after they blocked the Education Minister’s convoy.
