Agartala Nov 10: The state level celebration of 8th National Ayurveda Day (Dhanwantri Jayanti) was organized with great zeal and enthusiasm here in Rabindra Satavarshiki Bhavan in capital city Agartala on Friday.
Focusing on the human-animal-plant-environment interface, Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education, Tinku Roy inaugurated the program with the focal theme of “Ayurveda for One Health”, with tagline “Ayurveda for everyone, everyday”.
Addressing the program, Minister Tinku Roy said, “Despite of being an ancient form of medical practice Ayurvedic treatment is yet popular among masses”.
“To make this form of medical practice more popular across the globe, the central government under prime minister Narendra Modi has taken up several initiatives. This includes month- long celebration of Ayurveda Day along with awareness programs to sensitize common people about Ayurveda”, he said.
Speaking about the health infrastructure, the Minister said, “The state government with support from the central government has given utmost priority to the expansion of advanced medical services and infrastructural development in the state”.
He said that we all have to work together to realize the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build a new India, a self-reliant India and India of dreams.
Secretary of the Department of Health Dr. Sandeep R Rathore said, the eighth National Ayurveda Day is being celebrated in the state through various programmes.
He said that Integrated AYUSH Hospitals are operational in Chandrapur of Kailashahar and Gomati districts.
And another integrated AYUSH hospital will be opened in Sabroom shortly.
Mission Director of National Health Mission Dilip Kumar Chakma, State Ayurveda Hospital Head of Office Dr. Sunanda Bhattacharya, Director of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Department Dr Anjan Das, Director of Medical Education Dr HP Sharma, a number of doctors and students remained present at the program.
Meanwhile, Retired Ayurvedic doctor Dr. Kishore Debbarma, Dr. Bijay Chowdhury, Dr. Shaibal Chandra Pandit, Dr. Abhijit Saha and Dr. Manilal Das were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Also, the State Ayurvedic Hospital was honored with the Award for Excellence in Healthcare Service Award.
Besides, 6 Ayurvedic doctors were honored in different categories.
