In view of the Covid surge, the Tripura government issued new advisories on Thursday and appealed to the people to maintain the Covid appropriate behaviour.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha chaired a meeting of the State-level Task Force meeting, reviewed the Covid situation and took some decision to contain the spread of coronavirus, said health secretary Dr. Debashis Basu said in a press conference.
According to the notification, wearing masks/face cover is compulsory in public places, crowded areas, in markets, in all work places and offices and during travelling.
The administration has been asked to take action against those not wearing mask in the public places, the notification said.
“Fine may be imposed on the defaulters for not using mask or not maintaining Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB),” the notification reads.
According to the new advisories, the people should avoid unnecessary movement outside home or workplace. In case of need, movement may take place by following aggressive COVID appropriate behaviour. Fair, Exhibition, Rallies, public meetings etc. may be avoided.
The shop owners should ensure social distancing among customers, wearing of masks among customers. Bazaar committees should deploy volunteers to ensure social distancing.
The department has taken steps to ensure wide and thorough publicity on wearing mask/face cover and to maintain Covid Appropriate Behaviour through talk-shows, miking, print, electronic and social media.
Besides, awareness campaigns would be carried out in entry points like airports, railway stations and bus stands. In rural areas, Anganwadi and ASHA workers have been engaged to raise mass awareness.
Dr. Basu said, of the total 2070 active cases, 2039 patients are in home isolation and 312 Corona-infected persons are under treatment in Agartala Government medical College.
Speaking to the media at the Civil Secretariat, State Immunization Officer Dr. Mousumi Sarkar briefed about the Covid vaccination progress. She said, as many as 55,59,787 doses were already administered to the eligible population—28,98,572 people received the first dose, 24,75,434 persons got the second shot and 1,85,781 persons were given the precaution dose. An official report said, 1,20,820 Covid vaccine doses were in stock in Tripura.
Additional Secretary of revenue department Anindya Bhattacharjee was also present in the press conference.
