Agartala, June 30: Just as the 2023 general assembly elections are drawing near, the understanding between the CPI(M) and the Congress party is getting intensified, said BJP MLA and Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday.
Chowdhury was addressing a party gathering here at Agartala Dasharath Deb Smriti Bhawan.
Citing the equation of the poll results of the 6-Agartala assembly constituency, Sushanta Chowdhury said, “As per the equation, the CPI(M) party was supposed to score 12500-13000 votes and the Congress was supposed to get 10000-12000 votes, but the entire equation was changed with the declaration of the poll results, where we could see that the CPI(M) got only 6000 votes. This probed that the rest of the votes of the CPI(M) party went to the Congress party which got around 14500 votes.”
“This is not due to its organizational activities, but due to a very secret understanding with the CPI(M) party, the Congress won the seat of 6-Agartala,” said Sushanta.
He said, “Just as the assembly election is drawing near, the understanding between the CPI(M) and the congress is getting intensified and this has been proved on Wednesday last, when the CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Choudhury agreed to Sudip Roy Barman’s call for united opposition against BJP.”
Chowdhury on Thursday reviewed the performance of the BJP party during the by-elections and said, “There is no need to be depressed with the party’s loss in 1 seat. We won the seat of Jubarajnagar by over 4500 votes, which we lost by 300 votes in the 2018 election and also, we won the seat of Surma assembly constituency with the same equation of votes like that of Jubarajnagar. Likewise Chief Minister Dr. Manik Sarkar had won the seat of 8-Town Bordowali with huge margin of votes.”
“This proved that there is no alternative to the BJP in the sub-urban and rural areas of the state as the people there trust BJP and voted for the BJP,” he claimed.
