CPI(M) demands clearance of dumped garbage affecting environment

Agartala, May 02: The CPI(M) West Tripura district committee on Thursday sought the intervention of the District Magistrate to ensure clearance of the garbage dumped by AMC in Debendranagar area as it is causing environmental pollution.
The committee led by senior party leader Pabitra Kar, Ratan das and others tabled a deputation with the DM Dr Vishal Kumar in his office chamber and complained that the garbage site in Debendranagar started stinking and polluting the environment after it caught fire recently.
Briefing the reporters regarding their deputation, party leader Ratan Das said that the garbage site is also affecting families residing in Debendranagar and adjacent areas. “We demanded the DM to initiate necessary steps on an urgent basis to ensure a pollution free environment,” he told reporters.
He also informed that earlier the matter was taken up with the SDM, but no necessary initiative was taken.
