Agartala May 30: Acting on specific complaints, Sipahijala district administration on Monday night conducted sudden raid at a tuition center run by government school teacher in Charilam bazaar.
Allegedly, Biswajit Debnath alias Rakesh, Economics teacher of Charilam Higher Secondary School has been running education business by renting a house in Madhyapara area in Charilam Bazaar for long time.
Receiving similar complaints, a team of administrative officials led by Officer Suman Rakshit, under the direction of Sipahijala District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar raided the tuition center on Monday evening.
However, on being asked about the allegations of conducting a private tuition business, the teacher Biswajit Debnath denied the allegations claiming that the students were his relatives.
Speaking in this context, Sipahijala DM Dr Vishal Kumar said, “We received specific complaints against Biswajit Debnath, teacher of Charilam HS School for carrying out education business in the name of private tuitions for a long time. Based on the complaints, the administration team conducted the inspection”.
“After the report comes in, action will be taken against the government teacher as per departments’ circular”, he said.
The DM further said that talks will be held with the parents of the students who sent their wards for private tuitions to the teachers’ coaching center.
However, this comes amid protests and complaints by a section of parents, mainly those who alleges that the studies in classes especially in higher secondary schools are getting hampered because of private tuition practice.
In this situation, the state education department has repeatedly warned government teachers against private coaching and said they must either discontinue it or quit their jobs.
