Decomposed body recovered from forest

Teliamura Aug 05: Dead body of a man was recovered from a neighboring forest at a distance of 50 meters from his residence. The incident took place on Friday in Debnath para area of Maharanipur under Teliamura police station.
Reportedly, a rotten smell had spread in the entire area since few days. Based on suspicion, locals went out to search from where the putrid smell was coming from and found a skeletal head hanging from a litchi tree in the forest near a house in the area.
Immediately report was sent to Teliamura police station. Police personnel rushed to the spot and after talking to the local residents, they came to know that a man named Montu Das (46) of the locality, has been missing since last Friday.
The family members of the deceased later identified it as the dead body of Montu Das by looking at the shoes, towels and clothes. According to family sources, Montu Das was missing from his home for 7 days.
Initially, it is assumed that the dead body had been rotting for the past week, causing the hanging body to fall to the ground and the head hanging from the tree with a towel.
Later, as the body was completely decomposed, an autopsy was conducted on the spot in the presence of Teliamura DCM and a doctor. Later the body was taken to Mahasmashan Ghat at Netajinagar for cremation.
