Kalyanpur Aug 01: Demanding an immediate solution to River erosion problem, affected people of Morachara village panchayat under Kalyanpur Police Station blocked the Khowai – Teliamura main road on Monday.

The villagers complained that because of severe river erosion in North Malpara area of ​​Moharchhara Panchayat their croplands are submerging into water. Even the houses of villagers are affected.

Sub Inspector Jayant Halder of Kalyanpur police station reached the spot after receiving the news of blockade. Deputy Collector Bappaditya Roy Bhowmik also reached the spot of agitation on behalf of the administration. Birja Kolai, Assistant Engineer of Water Resources Department and others also came to the spot.

All the officials including the local leaders supported the demands of the villagers, i.e. the demand to take measures to prevent the erosion.

The protesters were assured that as soon as fund is allocated for the cause work will be started in the area.

Later after long discussion the blockade was finally lifted.
