Khowai, Apr 4: A case was filed in Khowai Court against three offenders for destroying a vegetable field and attempting to murder the farmer. After a prolonged hearing, the Court fined the offenders on Tuesday.
The incident of destroying the vegetable field took place in September-October of 2019 in the village of Ghilatali in the Kalyanpur police station area.
Almost every night, vegetables were stolen from the farmer Ranjit Sarkar's crop field – miscreants also destroyed plants. On the night of October 22, 2019 the owner of the vegetable field, Ranjit Sarkar, managed to catch the three miscreants red-handed.
The miscreants attacked Ranjit Sarkar with a stick and injured him. After the incident, Sarkar filed a written complaint with the Kalyanpur police station. Later, on the night of October 22, the miscreants launched an organized attack on Ranjit Sarkar. They attacked him with a stick, and he suffered a head injury.
The injured owner of the vegetable field, Ranjit Sarkar, was admitted to Kalyanpur Hospital. The police launched an investigation into the incident.
On December 31, 2019, the investigating officer of the case filed a charge sheet in the court. Testimony of nine people was taken during the trial. The court found the three accused guilty and the verdict of the case was delivered by the Khowai court today.
The three convicts are Liton Sarkar, Bishwajit Sarkar, and Bikash Sarkar. They were fined Rs 10,000 each. On the same day, the convicts handed over the entire amount of the fine to the court and were released from the case.
The court will now transfer the money to the affected farmer Ranjit Sarkar. Lawyer Abhijit Bhattacharya handled the case on behalf of the government in court.
