Dharmanagar, Sep 5: Dharmanagar police seized a huge quantity of contraband items, including foreign liquor, brown sugar and yaba tablets on Thursday. 

During a vehicle checking at Anandabazar area under the police station, the police stopped a Bolero with an Assam registration and recovered a total of 600 bottles of foreign liquor. The driver, Subir Das, was arrested. According to police, estimated worth of the seized liquor would worth approximately Rs 2 lakh.

On the same day, police also seized 24 containers of brown sugar and 600 yaba tablets from one Kamal Nath, a resident of South Padmabil.

The police stopped him when he was moving on his motorcycle. During search the police recovered the contraband items.

The police registered a case under the NDPS Act and initiated the probe in this connection.
