Dial 1912 but don't expect timely service; TSECL's role under question

Agartala, Apr 20: Call it a sheer negligence or incompetence of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), common people are suffering from worst electricity service ever.
The helpline- 1912 of TSECL remains unavailable most of the time. Even when in service, the customer care representatives handling the calls don't respond properly. This adds to further suffering of the consumers.
The issue is not new but the Power department, as it appeared, has been maintaining a conspicuous silence. Such reports continue to pour in regularly.
Around 10 families residing at Kalimata Sangha, near the main gate of Agartala Railway Station, remained out of electricity due to the lackadaisical attitude of the TSECL.
Reportedly, the power transmission line that connects the 10 families got damaged due to a storm at midnight on April 17. The matter was reported to the TSECL call centre after multiple attempts in the morning on April 18. But the power staff didn't visit the spot till the evening. When a team of electric office reached the site, it was already 9 pm.
The linemen straight said that they would not perform the restoration work at night time. When the public questioned why they didn't visit the site at day time, gave lame excuses but could not give any satisfactory reply. It was the second night for the families without power.
In the face of public pressure, the power staff finally restored the power service at the morning of April 19, after the sufferings of around 48 hours.
