Teliamura, July 05: Taking a cue from the ‘Ulta Rath’ tragedy of Kumarghat in Unakoti district, where at least ten devotees died of electrocution and many others were injured as a rath, made of iron and heavily decorated, came in contact with a high-tension wire, the Tripura government has initiated necessary measures to restrict further untoward incidents during the Ratha Yatra festival in the state.
As part of this, the District Magistarte of the Khowai Tripura district Chandni Charan on Friday visited the Sri Sri Krishna Chaitanya Ashram of Teliamura to inspect the newly built structural design of the Lord Jagannath’s chariot.
The DM was accompanied by the SDM of Teliamura subdivision Krishnendu Debbarma, Chairman of Municipal Council Rupak Sarkar and other officials. The DM also interacted with the concerned authority of the temple.
After the inspection, the DM instructed the SDM Krishnendu Debbarma to chair a meeting with various line departments by considering the area-based situation and pass necessary instructions to ensure that no untoward incidents occur this year in the Ratha Yatra festival. The DM also asked the SDM to closely monitor the overall situation.
