Dr. Manik Saha to take oath as Tripura CM on Mar 8

Agartala, Mar 06: Dr. Manik Saha has been unanimously elected as the leader of BJP legislature party on Monday. He will continue as the Chief Minister.
Soon after being elected as the Leader, Chief Minister-designate Dr. Saha met with Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya to stake claim to form the government.
He will take oath as the Chief Minister on March 8 next.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda and other central leaders along with Chief Ministers of various states will join the oath ceremony to be held at Swami Vivekananda Maidan.
According to sources, Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik, who secured victory from Dhanpur constituency, was also in the race to become Chief Minister.
Finally, the party MLAs supported Dr. Saha as the next Chief Minister after his name was proposed by Bhowmik in the meeting earlier on Monday.
The BJP-IPFT alliance retained power in Tripura by winning 33 out of 60 seats in the assembly polls held on February 16 last.
A maxillofacial surgeon by profession – who was also a professor of the Tripura Medical College-Dr Saha was re-elected from the Town Bordowali seat for the second term.
