e-Mulaqat Web Portal to be accessible in 12 Prisons across Tripura

Agartala Jul 03: A workshop focusing on the various programs of the e-Mulaqat web portal that aims to facilitate virtual meetings between prisoners and their family members via video conferencing, was conducted on Wednesday in the state capital under the auspices of the Jail Department.
Prisons Minister Santana Chakma inaugurated the event at the Government Guest House.
In her inaugural address, Minister Santana Chakma emphasized the potential benefits for jail inmates and their families once the ‘e-Mulaqat’ web portal becomes fully operational.
She highlighted the time and cost savings associated with this initiative.
The Minister expressed optimism that the state government’s efforts, combined with the active participation of workshop attendees, would lead to the success of this endeavour.
During the workshop discussions, Inspector General of Prisons Subhasis Das confirmed that the ‘e-Mulaqat’ web portal would be accessible in all 12 prisons across the state.
He also underscored its positive impact on prison security.
Notably, the workshop saw the participation of National Informatics Centre (NIC) officials alongside representatives from various state prisons.
