Economics Department of TU does agricultural research under Prof. Subhrabaran Das in Tripura

Agartala, Oct 31. It has been observed in different areas of Ganda Chheera subdivision that the government facilities are to be given in accordance with the priority of farmers because the district Dhalai in Tripura has been considered as aspirational district in accordance with the guidelines of the Government of India launched in the name of 'Transformation of Aspirational Districts'.
The initiative was taken in January 2018 with a vision of a New India by 2022 wherein the focus is to improve India's ranking under the Human Development Index (HDI), raising living standards of its citizens and ensuring inclusive growth of all.
A research group of total seven members from the Economics Department of Tripura University has visited Ganda Chhera under Dhalai District of Tripura and collected information from farmers relating with their agricultural activities in different areas under the subdivision for doing academic research.
The farmers in Purba Kalajari R.F village area and other survey areas’ farmers under Ganda Chhera have also been informed that the benefits at more numbers needed to be given from government to farmers here in Tripura’s Dhalai district. The report and suggestions are to be given by the research team after completing their analysis to Tribal Welfare Department who are sponsoring necessary funds for doing research in order to do the development of the state as well as tribal communities in the state by doing research and all.
The government is trying to achieve the goal of increasing farmers’ income as double and the initiatives are taken through different schemes in connection with farmers’ development. The research team has been included with Prof. Subhrabaran Das, PhD Scholars of Economics Department Sukanti Roy & Kiran Bhowmik and others members Srijan Debnath, Kaishiki Pattery, Shankar Shil.
The team members have been informed during their visit at Purba Kalajari R.F village that the farmers are mostly tribal in this village and the farmers follow the SRI system for doing paddy production. The farmers are getting different types of benefits from the government which come under different schemes like NFSM-Rice, Soil Health Card, RKVY, PMKSY and others.
