Dharmanagar, Dec 31: Former Chief Minister and CPM politburo member Manik Sarkar faced a protest at Dharmanagar on Tuesday.

Sarkar attended CPM’s 4th district conference at Vivekananda Bhavan, Dharmanagar. During Sarkar’s programme, a large group of women, without any political banner, gathered in front of the venue and raised ‘Manik Sarkar Go Back’ slogans.

While protesting, the women also demanded return of deposits in Rose Valley, one of the biggest chit-fund scams.

Security personnel in adequate numbers were deployed to control the protestors.
