Agartala, Jan 15: The foundation stone of Tripura’s first Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospital has been laid on Sunday.
Union Labour Minister Bhupender Yadav laid the foundation stone in virtual presence of Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other dignitaries were present in the virtual foundation stone laying ceremony via video conference.
Later speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said, the state government provided 5 acres land at Bodhjungnagar area for the proposed hospital at free of cost.
“It will be a modern hospital with Modular OT, state-of-the-art medical equipment, OPD, IPD services and other facilities. The project worth Rs. 100 crore would get its final shape in three years,” the Chief Minister told reporters.
He said, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is sincerely implementing the Act East Policy, Tripura is progressing in all fields.
Dr. Saha also extended his sincere thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav and Union Minister of State Rameswar Teli for this decision.
Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik, MoS Rameswar Teli, Tripura Minister for Labour Bhagaban Chandra Das, Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly Ratan Chakraborty, Chief Secretary Dr. J.K. Sinha and others were present in the virtual programme.
According to a presentation shown in the programme, the hospital would provide medical services to more than 60,000 beneficiaries in Agartala and catchment area.
Meanwhile, the proposal for the 100-bedded ESIC Hospital was approved in the 189th meeting of ESIC held on December 3-4 last.
According to official sources, as many as 16,244 workers of Tripura are enrolled under the ESI scheme and they are getting primary treatment facility at ESI dispensary, Shyamalibazar.
Besides, four new ESI dispensaries have been introduced at Udaipur, Bishramganj, Ambassa and Dharmanagar in 2020-21.
