Agartala April 24: Over a week after arrest of three youths in connection with the gang rape of two tribal minor girls of Jampuijala Gangaram Para, police of Srinagar police station under Golaghati assembly constituency detained the fourth accused on Tuesday night.
Allegedly, the two minor girls were brought to the area from Ambasa in Dhalai district of the state and later brutally gang raped by seven youths.
Later, on witnessing the incident the locals handed over the victim girls to their respective families who lodged a written complaint against all the seven accused at Srinagar police station on April 14.
The police took up the case under Indian Penal Code 376(D) and POCSO Act and arrested one youth and two minor tribal boys from Jarulbachai Dukhiyakubra area.
Continuing the investigation, police succeeded in arresting another minor from Dukhiyakubra area in Jampuijala.
During interrogation, the minor admitted to have committed the crime and will be sent to the Juvenile Court on Wednesday afternoon, said police.
Police further informed to have launched a manhunt against the other accused youths.
Meanwhile, exemplary punishment of the accused is being demanded from all quarters in such heinous incidents.
