Amarpur, Dec 04: The Finance Minister of the state, Pranajit Singha Roy inaugurated the freshers’ welcome ceremony at Amarpur’s Adwaita Malla Barman Smriti Mahavidyalaya on Wednesday. The program, held on the college premises, marked the formal reception of first-semester students with floral greetings and a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. The event was attended by MLA Ranjit Das, Amarpur Block Panchayat Samiti Chairperson, Suchitra Das, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Anupam Chakraborty, and Principal of the College, Dr. Pradip Kumar Deepak.

Minister Pranajit Singha Roy emphasized the state government’s initiatives to improve the quality of education in schools and colleges, mentioning advancements like internet connectivity, improved infrastructure, modern classrooms, and libraries in various institutions. Roy assured that internet facilities would soon be provided at Adwaita Malla Barman College.

Students also submitted a memorandum highlighting demands, including the appointment of permanent professors in the science department. The minister assured that efforts would be made to address these issues to support students’ academic pursuits.
